2011 Season

Cheer Dawgs miss finals

The Toombs County Competition Cheerleading team finished 13th out of 24 in the GHSA Double A Sectionals in Columbus on Friday. Only eight squads advanced to Saturday's final joining the eight region champions. The eight teams which advanced were- Armuhee, Coosa, Calhoun, Dawson, Dodge, Jefferson, Pike and Screven. The Cheer Dawgs did a relatively clean routine with no major deductions according to coach Lana Graham Odom.

Columbus bound Cheer Dawgs place 3rd

For the fourth time in five years the Toombs County High School competition cheerleading team placed high enough at region to earn a spot at the GHSA State Sectionals at Columbus. The Cheer Dawgs finished third in Region 2 competition staged in Moultrie. Coach Lana Graham Odom said, "The girls did great and we had a solid routine. We placed third behind Pierce and Jeff Davis." Tattnall County was the fourth Region 2 team to secure a spot in Columbus.

Toombs will compete on Friday morning in the sectionals and will have to finish in the top eight to receive a second straight position in the finals.  

Cheer Dawgs increase score at Houston Co.

After making some more changes in their routine, the Cheer Dawgs improved their score at Houston County. TCHS was the only Double A school to show up for the competition and so they took home the first place trophy.

The Toombs County Competition Cheerleading teams goal in their second competition was to improve on their 150 score at West Laurens and they did so at Richmond Hill. TCHS scored 156 after a 10 point deduction. Changes in their routine, which were made on Thursday, led to the increased score and a second place finish behind Southeast Bulloch- which also placed first at West Laurens. There were only two teams in the Double A competition.

The stunt group consisting of Casey George, Madison Hart, Kara Graham, Carmen Johnson and Andrea Dillard won the Lib Off which is a competition to see which team can hold their flyer, doing a liberty, up the longest. In this move Carmen stands on one leg and puts both of her arms up in the air.  

Cheer Dawgs place 3rd in first competition

The Toombs County Competition Cheearleading team opened up its 2011 season with a third place finish at the West Laurens Rumble. Southeast Bulloch finished first and Bleckley County was second in the Double A. Competition.

2010 Season

Cheer Dawgs perform well at state,

but do not crack top 6

The Toombs County Competition Cheerleading team was the second squad to take the floor in the afternoon session at the GHSA State Championships on Saturday in Columbus. Toombs appeared to perform a flawless routine with no noticeable bobbles. However, the competition was tough and when the final six teams were announced TCHS was not included. Calhoun won the Double A title and was followed by Coosa in second, Pierce County (Region 2) was third and Jefferson fourth. Fitzgerald and North Oconee also made the top six. On Friday Toombs was one of eight Double A squads to qualify for the finals. The Cheer Dawgs scored a 217 and were the final team to get the good news that they were moving on. The other seven teams that survived sectionals were North Oconee, Coosa, Pepperell, East Laurens Armuchee, Vidalia and Pike County. Cheer Dawgs are going to state

The TCHS Competition Cheerleading team placed second at the Region 2 Meet held in Tifton earning them a trip to sectionals in Columbus. If they place in the top eight on Friday they will compete for a state championship on Saturday. The Cheer Dawgs, who finished just two points behind Pierce County at region, last competed in Columbus in 2008. In 2007 the girls finished fourth in Double A. Y-101 Stories

CheerDawgs score high and finish 2nd

The Toombs County CheerDawgs scored a 204 and finished second in the Double A competition at Washington County. TCHS had the second highest score of all 27 teams competing for a title in Single through Quad A.  Y-101 Story  

Cheer Dawgs rebound and place second

One week after they dropped a stunt in their season opening competition at West Laurens, the Toombs County competition cheerleading team rebounded with a second place finish at Richmond Hill. The girls improved their score from 175 in week one to 215 in their second competition.  

2009 Season 

TCMS is second

The Toombs County Middle School competition cheerleaders traveled to Dodge Co. for the region competition and finished in second place behind West Laurens. Other teams competing were Bleckley County, Dublin, Dodge County, and East Laurens. This was the final competition of the season. TCMS competed in six events and placed in the top three in every one .

The Toombs County Competition Cheer Dawgs finished first in their final regular season competition. Toombs finished first in the Double A competition at Statesboro and the girls had the highest score and were named the grand champion out of the 20-plus schools that were competiting. This week the girls will be preparing for region competition at Jenkins County on Saturday. The top four teams will advance on to state. Y-101 Story

The TCHS cheerleaders finished second in Double A behind Fitzgerald and the girls had the third highest score amongst the 21 teams competing.

For the first time this season the Toombs County competition cheerleading team was healthy- no flu- and for the first time they finished first. The Cheer Dawgs were the top AA team in Southeast Bulloch's "Jacket Jam." SEB finished second. In middle school competition Toombs County placed third behind Ebenezer and SEB. 2008 Season

Cheer Dawgs miss finals

The Toombs County competition cheerleading team did not make it to the finals at State in Columbus. The girls, who finished fourth in Double A last season, competed on Friday in the first round and did not make the top eight. 

Cheer Dawgs are going back to state

   

 

The Toombs County Cheer Dawgs finished third in Region 3 competition at the Toombs County Middle School earning the girls a second straight trip to state in Columbus on November 7th and 8th. The Cheer Dawgs dropped a stunt early in their routine, but they finished strong. The girls were quite nervous when it was announced the Southeast Bulloch had finished fourth. However, they were ecstatic when they heard that they were third. Screven County was first and Bleckley County second. Cheer Dawgs seek another trip to state

 

The Toombs County competition cheerleading team is seeking a return trip to state in Columbus. To qualify the Cheer Dawgs will have to finish in the top four at region on Saturday at the Toombs County Middle School gym. The competition begins at 12:30 p.m. and Toombs is expected to do its routine at approximately 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $5.00. Listen to the girls talk about Saturday Y-101 Story

 Cheer Dawgs take first at Ware County

The Toombs County Competition Cheerleading team finished first in Saturday's competition at Ware County. Toombs County teams put on a good show at Cheer Dawg Classic 

A loud and full house watched 44 teams compete in the Cheer Dawg Classic at the Toombs County Middle School. The Toombs County High School team did not compete for a trophy but they did go last and put on a fine exhibition which would have earned them third place in Double A. Pierce County was the Double A champ, Jenkins County finished first in Single A, West Laurens topped Triple A and Ware County won the Quad A title. The Toombs County Middle School girls, in their first competition of the season, finished fourth.

TCHS cheerleaders prepare for new season

Coming off a fourth place finish at state, the Toombs County competition cheerleading team has spent the month of June preparing for the 2008 season. Instead of going to camp in Atlanta, like they did last year, the girls have been working out at the middle school each morning. Of emphasis has been conditioning and flexibility. 2007 Season

Toombs County cheerleaders finish fourth in state

Cheer Dawgs make it to Saturday's finals in Columbus

For the first time in school history the Toombs County Competition cheerleading team has advanced to Saturday's finals at state in Columbus. The girls finished sixth in Friday's competition. The Cheer Dawgs appeared live on Y-101's Midday Memory Show after they received the results.  Audio

Toombs County finished third at East Laurens Cheer Competition. Pierce County was the Double A winner and Screven County placed second. 

Toombs County Cheerleaders at camp in Atlanta 

The Toombs County Competition Cheerleading team recently went to Atlanta to learn a new routine for the upcoming season. Cheerleading has become a big thing at Toombs County High School. There are three separate teams and last year the competition team went to state. Audio Story
